Aruba

Adopted on March 18, 1976, the flag of Aruba was designed by a local committee. The blue field represents the Caribbean Sea and sky surrounding the island. The two yellow stripes symbolize the island's main industries: tourism and gold mining (historically aloe vera). The four-pointed red star in the canton has multiple meanings: the four cardinal directions representing the diverse origins of the population, the red color for the island's brazilwood trees, and the star's outline represents the island itself surrounded by the beautiful blue sea.
